About Mother Fire (w/ Lyrics)

The ancient peoples knew humanity's deep reliance on and connection with Earth. We are meant to be caretakers of Earth, but, as a whole, we are doing a poor job. Many of us are seeing her only as a resource for the taking, rather than a beautiful gift to be protected and preserved. We must care for the Earth. I see more and more people actively waking up to this fact, and I see so much hope for humanity. We will work together to heal and solve the ecological and social problems we face.

Mother Fire on BandCamp now!

Mother Fire now on Bandcamp and Available for purchase! This song came to me while doing dishes. The line "There is hope for us" actually began as "Don't destroy us", but I needed to change it because I wanted to actually invoke hope instead of destruction. In our human psychology we have a hard time with fully understanding the message of negatives---Such as, in an emergency situation "Stay Calm" is more reassuring than "Don't Panic". Most people will focus in on the word "Panic!!". So I didn't want to be saying "(Don't) Destroy us" over and over. I try to write with this level of consciousness and awareness in all my songs, though I also believe that once a person is conscious of this tendency, it can be overcome.

lyrics

Oh Mother Fire, Oh Mother Snow, Mother Hurricane and Volcano, Oh Mother Rainstorm, and Mother Sun, Our Mother Poisoned, What have we done? But there is hope for us, Now restore in us, That distant shore in us, Where we can see, That there is hope for us, Please heal the pain in us, Restore us to great harmony. Oh Mother Fire, Oh Mother Earth, Mother Winter, Mother Re-birth, Oh Mother Day and Mother Night, We’ll find the ways, to save you right. We will show mercy to all the thirsty, Protect our water, it is our first need, Restore diversity, to all the life we see, Stop the monopoly, Mother let’s topple these, Mother let’s stop them please! We don’t need oil, we need clean soil, We don’t need concrete, we need our bare feet, We don’t need pollution, we need revolution, We don’t need factories, we need our inner peace. That’s why there’s hope for us, We are not dangerous, When we see that it is us, We are hurting, There’s so much hope for us, We do that which we must, And we must sing, There is hope for us, Now restored in us, That distant shore in us, Where we see clearly, That there is hope for us, All pain has turned to dust, And we sing in harmony. Oh Mother Fire, Oh Mother Field, Mother Nature, is all, it takes, to heal.
